01 / CUSTOM DRAPERY

Measuring for custom drapes

Start by choosing whether your rod or track is already installed.

BEFORE HARDWARE INSTALLATION

No rod or track installed

A
Window width

Measure the width of the window or door, including the outer molding.

B
Window height

Measure the height, including the outer molding.

C
Ceiling height

Measure from the ceiling to the floor.

D
Height from the floor

Measure from the bottom of the window molding to the floor. For doors, this is 0 inches.

AFTER HARDWARE INSTALLATION

Rod or track already installed

Rod or track width

Measure from the leftmost to the rightmost end of the rod or track, excluding finials.

B
Rod or track height

Measure from the top of the drapery rod or track to the floor.

02 / ROMAN SHADES

Measuring for Roman shades

Inside and outside mounts use different measurements.

Inside-mount Roman shade: A spans only the clear opening's inside edges from left to right. B measures inside the opening from the top edge down to the bottom edge, not including the sill.
Measure the clear opening inside the frame, from inside edge to inside edge for both A and B.

Inside mount

For a shade that fits inside the window opening.

Width

Measure the exact clear width inside the window frame, from one inner edge to the other.

B
Height

Measure the exact clear height inside the opening, from the top inner edge to the bottom inner edge. Do not include the sill.

Outside-mount Roman shade: measure width A across the outer window trim and height B from the top to the bottom of the outer trim. A dashed outline shows an extra 4 inches above and 1 inch on each side.

Outside mount

For a shade installed over the window trim.

Width

Enter the exact window width, including the outer trim. An additional 1 inch is allowed on each side, as shown in the diagram.

B
Height

Enter the exact window height, including the outer trim. An additional 4 inches is allowed above for mounting.
