Measuring Tip: When measuring window width for valances, be sure to include the trim. Then add 3 inches (1.5 inches per side). This is to assure that the sides of the valance will fit nicely against the window trim and will leave space for mounting brackets. It is also best to mount the valance about four inches above the window trim, so add that four inches to the total height of the valance.
